West Bank: 340 attacks on olive pickers since the beginning of October
Ramallah – Anatolia
Since the beginning of the olive season last October, the West Bank has recorded **340 attacks carried out by the Israeli army and settlers against Palestinian farmers**, according to what the head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Moayad Shaaban, announced Thursday.
Shaaban pointed out that the attacks included **62 attacks by the Israeli army** and **278 by settlers**, and included **physical attacks, arrests, restricting the movement of farmers, and preventing access to land, in addition to intimidation and direct shooting**.
The attacks were clearly distributed across the governorates, as **Ramallah witnessed 107 incidents, Nablus 94, and Hebron 38**.
The Palestinian official pointed out that the olive season constitutes a major source of livelihood for many families, but the expected production this year **will not exceed 15% of the normal rate**, compared to 27,300 tons in 2024.
This comes in light of a widespread wave of escalation by the army and settlers in the West Bank, where last October **766 attacks were recorded against Palestinians and their property**.
