A spokesman for the Dutch company refused to disclose additional details about the Chinese branch’s plans, saying only that “Nexperia continues its commitment to the policy of industrial and commercial neutrality, and operates within international laws regulating the trade in advanced technology.”

In recent years, “Nexperia” – owned by the Chinese Wingtech Group – has faced restrictions on its exports due to fears of transferring sensitive technology to China, which led to the disruption of supply chains and a decline in its share in some markets.

But recent statements from both sides indicate a breakthrough in technical and commercial relations, at a time when Washington and Beijing seek to calm tensions in the vital technology sector.

European technology expert Jan van der Meer said that this step “may strengthen European companies’ confidence in their ability to continue working with Asian partners without risking sanctions or regulatory delays.”

It is expected that lifting the restrictions will increase the company’s production capacity and restore some of the contracts it lost during the period of trade restrictions.

On the other hand, some voices in the United States expressed concern about “continued reliance on Asian supply chains,” calling for enhancing local production of chips.
