Pope Leo XIV calls for allowing sufficient aid to enter Gaza

Pope Leo

The Pope said during the weekly general meeting in St. Peter’s Square, the first since the beginning of his pontificate, “The situation in the Gaza Strip is worrying and painful.”

The Pope’s appeal came as the non-governmental organization Doctors Without Borders accused Israel, on Wednesday, of allowing “ridiculously insufficient” aid to meet the needs of the Strip.

She also stressed that this shows “her intention to avoid being accused of starving people in Gaza, while in reality she is barely keeping them alive”.

The Pope previously expressed on May 11 his “deep sadness at what is happening in the Gaza Strip,” and called for “the hostilities to stop immediately, for humanitarian assistance to be provided to exhausted civilians, and for all hostages to be released.”
