Fleet of Resilience: Ships sailing humanity towards freedom
It is a journey of honor and redemption… a journey of men and women who left their homelands and families, and gave their time and lives, to be a humanitarian shield and a cry of hope in the face of siege and aggression. Today, the Global Resilience Fleet to break the Israeli siege announced that it is closer than ever to wounded Gaza, as it is only 3 to 4 sailing days away from it, and within two days it will enter an area considered “high risk.”
In an emotional message on Facebook, the Maghreb Resilience Flotilla confirmed that “the ships are only 366 nautical miles (589 kilometers) from Gaza,” with an expected arrival within a few days, proudly noting that the fleet now includes 44 ships after two new boats joined the Freedom Flotilla.
Although 3 ships suffered emergency malfunctions in the Mediterranean, Al Jazeera’s correspondent announced that sailing would resume as soon as they were repaired, so the humanitarian convoy would continue its journey, regardless of the challenges.
On the other hand, Israel is in a state of panic and alert, as the official Hebrew channel “Kan” confirmed that the occupation is preparing to intercept the fleet, while the “Wala” website indicated that the Israeli Ministry of Health has asked its hospitals to prepare for possible casualties, especially with the arrival of the fleet coinciding with the “Yom Kippur Day.” The Israeli Broadcasting Authority also revealed the readiness of a military commando unit to attack the solidarity activists, in an explicit threat that brings to mind the piracy crime that targeted the ships “Madeleine” and “Handala” last June and July.
But the will of the volunteers is greater than their threats. More than 500 solidarity activists from 40 countries across the world’s continents gathered in this fleet. They came carrying with them hope and humanitarian aid, especially urgent medical supplies, to assure the world that Gaza is not alone, and that humanity is not measured by interests but by sacrifices.
Eyes also noticed the presence of two Italian and Spanish warships in the vicinity of the fleet, along with a Turkish Red Crescent ship, in a scene that reflects the extent of international anticipation for this blessed convoy.
This is the first time that dozens of ships have sailed together towards Gaza since the start of the genocide carried out by Israel since October 2023, which has so far left more than 66,000 martyrs, 168,000 wounded, widespread destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
✦ O free people, oh heroes of the steadfastness fleet… today you are ambassadors of humanity, and bearers of the message of free peoples to besieged Gaza.
