Britain suspends trade negotiations with Israel and recalls its ambassador due to the genocide in Gaza
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced that the United Kingdom had suspended negotiations with Israel regarding a new free trade agreement.
Speaking to the House of Commons, he said: “We have suspended negotiations with Israel on a new free trade agreement. We will review cooperation with it under the 2030 bilateral road map, and that “the actions of the Netanyahu government have made this necessary.”
The British government announced, on Tuesday, the summoning of Israel’s ambassador, Tzipi Hotovely, to London against the backdrop of the expansion of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
She noted that “it is not possible to make progress in discussions regarding a new and updated free trade agreement with the Netanyahu government, which “is pursuing terrible policies in the West Bank and Gaza.”
Lami stressed that the way the war is being conducted in Gaza harms relations with Israel.
